Can taking out a laptop battery help to conserve the battery life?

absolutely. if you have a laptop and leave it connected to ac power, charge that puppy, wrap in paper towel and leave in the fridge. the battery connected to the laptop (on or off) is always draining the battery.
i believe so, it will last longer and the runtime will last longer.
