Which linux OS would be best for a Compaq Armada M700?
Specs:
Pentium II processor
192MB Ram
?GB Hard Drive (probably 40, but I have plenty)
CD-DVD drive
Note: if it helps, I will be attempting to Replace Windows 98 with the Linux OS (98 won't work anyway)
Now the Distributions I've been looking at are:
DSL:"Damn Small Linux"
Xubuntu
Debian
Which would be best to install (note: RAM and processor are the biggest factors here.)
If it also helps I want to try and run Blender3D and Gimp on it.
Answers:
I have SUSE since 1995 in various versions, didn`t have a sever problem. And we had Suse servers in business i various versions didn't have a severe problem. But remind Linux is an OS where you can do every thing for yourself but it is also an OS where you must do everything for yourself.
Blender 3 D dont' know. Gimp works on my AMD K6 350 with 64mb ram and 18GB HDD very well.
In the moment have Suse Linux 10.0 on AMD Sempron 2800+ 512mb ram 80GB HDD.

Xubuntu
Puppy Linux or Damn Small Linux would be the favourites at this end for a PII computer.
