Vista Home Basic or Windows XP?
Answers:
I prefer you to buy XP.Vista is low on features because sometimes people don't get the features for which they have paid!.If you want to see a complete video review on vista then simply go to www.cnettv.com and remember V.I.S.T.A =
V for viruses
I for infections
S for spywares
T for trojans
A for adwares.
That's my own opinion about V.I.S.T.A now it depends on you that whether you will buy vista or xp.Happy Shopping
XP will be faster on this machine, definitely.
You don't have a choice. XP is what you have. Dot.
I suggest XP, thats because vista uses 1 GB of ram for minimum recommended use, and 2 for optimal performance.
Dead mouse > Vista.
That says a lot. NEVER get Vista, always stick with XP. Take it from personal experience... the features on it are not that good, most of them screw up, it's more compatible with a lotion bottle than it will be your printer and other peripherals, and it will be SLOW. Trust me, XP is the way to go, until Microsoft releases it's 7483274382nd Service Pack for Vista and makes it an operatable Operating System.
xp it is a lot more stable then vista
With the specs you provided, Vista will run very slow in some parts, making it a frustrating experience.
XP would be a better choice for these specs, and will work perfectly well.
vista will crawl with 512mb of ram
not to mention that it will have software compatibility issues
right now, i suggest going with xp, unless you plan on using a software that's specifically made for vista later on in the future. if that's the case, just upgrade your ram to 1 or 2 gigs. memory is pretty inexpensive at the moment, so upgrading is a good idea at this time
Vista comes in for a lot of unfair criticism but in your case your fear that Vista will be slow is well-founded.
i would recoment windos xp as it it ten time more relable and mote fast than any other opraing sytem but window vista may have all the advantiges it my slow you computer down
XP thats far better than vista
Windows XP
XP, Vista basic isnt a lot different (no Aero interface) and eats system resources.
Windows XP is 100% better than Windows Vista because it is very slow, has a lot of problems, and is the worst system ever. Don't love it because it's the newest OS. The newest thing is not always the best. I don't know why people think that it is.
Well XP has been going strong for a few years now so I think that 1.6 centrino,512 mb ram would compliment Windows XP but vista has only begun and has a few things missing. I read in a PC mag that vista has been given the hoorah and people now will be able to download drivers. Why the delay.
