Click the apple icon in the top left corner of the screen then click on about this mac link.
First go to Start>control panel>system>look at the bottom of the screen under the computer.

click on the Apple icon on the top left of your screen, select the first option "about this Mac", you will then have a small window appear that will tell you the Operating System and it's version number, the processor you have, amount of memory you have and your startup disk, click on the button "More Info ..." if you want more information about your MAC.
Also if you want to know your serial number click on the greytext where your System is ( 10.4.x ) it will cycle between Version, Build and Serial numbmer
