What would be a good laptop?
Answers:
If you really want GOOD, then get a Toshiba with around 2GB of RAM. Visit some of the Back to College specials at retail stores. Be sure to check stores that have a NO HASSLE return policy, in case you buy a DOG. Visit Staples, Costco or even Wal-Mart.
Good luck and Happy Computing!
toshiba
Best battery life for computers are lenovo thinkpads. Macbooks and Dell's battery lives are much poorer.
For your less resource intensive work, i'd suggest getting a laptop with XP, 1 GB of Ram, maybe a 64 MB graphics card. Nothing too expensive, since you won't be using it.
any Acer ussually comes with 3 GB of RAm
That laptop is perfect for your use. It is enough for internet and IM. The ram is also perfect for your use. When it comes to Hard-Drive if you need to store a lot of data like mp3s, projects etc. then you need a lot of space. When it comes to battery it should have a good standby time.
Hope i helped!
