The hardware in the MacBook is not sufficient for a true graphic designer. And that is much more than just the screen.
You are going to want a MacBook Pro. More RAM will allow you to work with larger images, and a faster processor will allow you to apply effects quicker. A good graphics processor will also make everything run smoother.
I am a graphic artist. I have a MacBook Pro 17" and a 20" iMac with a Wacom tablet.I find it is able to do anything I want to do with Adobe Creative Site, Corel Draw, Comic LIfe, iMovie and iDVD.
