Which laptop will run faster for multi tasking, music, word processing, internet?
Both have 1GB of RAM which I will update to 2GB.
Will it be a considerable difference for what I want to use it for? I have the first computer and it is running pretty slow with Vista and I'm considering updating to the Intel which is $100 more.

Notebooks with the Intel Core 2 Duo chipset consistently outperform those using AMD's chips. Just look at PC World's Comparison Chart for Notebooks (see sources). All the notebooks on there are Core 2 Duo systems. However, a new platform, previously code-named Santa Rosa and now replaced by the finalized titles "Centrino Duo" or "Centrino Pro" has arrived. If you buy a notebook using the Centrino Duo or Centrino Pro platforms, you're guaranteed "an 800-MHz frontside bus (up from 667 MHz), DDR2-800 memory support, built-in draft 802.11n Wi-Fi with 802.11a/b/g backward compatibility, and a new CPU socket that supports a range of new Core 2 Duo mobile processors, most of which now provide 4MB of Level 2 cache" (see "All-Purpose 'Santa Rosa' Notebooks Debut" in the "sources" list below).
Naturally, these new Santa Rosa laptops will carry a price premium. But you'll definitely be able to run Vista far better than with an AMD Turion processor. And, if you decide not to spring for a Centrino Duo notebook, any notebook with a Core 2 Duo processor rather than a Turion would lend a performance advantage.
That sounds good has a good proccesor and 2 gigs of ram u should be ok.
