Are all the laptop hard disk drive are the same except their memory size?

Nope. Recent versions of laptops now have SATA drives in them. So you have a possibility of having ATA vs. SATA drive. RPMs will vary anywhere between 4200 & 7200 RPM, & you'll have different buffer sizes, depending on the drive, as well.

For the most part, they vary with each brand of computer but they are all the same in the most part, all run at the same RPM and all that.
Sort of. Some are 4,500rpm (usually the largest ones), some 5400rpm and others 7200rpm. Some of them are SATA and others are PATA. Some newer ones use perpendicular recording, older ones don't.
