Acer or Compaq/HP which one is a better?
Need laptop for a mix of home and light business (real estate) usage. No games, video down loads etc.
I appreciate your input as usual!
Any known problems of either brand with Vista?

First, I would go with Toshiba. My 2nd choice would be HP. Compaq and Acer are good.

Compaq is cheap and hd and light and good memory and has vista and very good.
We've had this Acer since June. Our old one was a Compaq.This Acer has the premium Vista and it's ALOT faster than the old Compaq. So basically, no problems so far and it seems compatible to Compaq.
HP/Compaq is more reliable and has been around longer, the reason acer is so cheap is because they don't spend the time working on making high quality computers, acer is not worth the money. Plus acer doesn't include enough memory to run vista very well
HP support is second to none. They will replace/repair your computer within time frame without any questions. Also, they have an upgrade program where you can keep geting a better laptop if you so choose. Acer just seems to be a cheaper version. I don't have Vista and never will. All, and I mean all, that I have talked with had nothing but complaints about Vista. The biggest complaint was that it slowed their computer down. Secondly, a lot of software did not work. Hope this helps.
I would recommend HP/Compaq because it is a better brand.
Buy one with Windows Vista Business.
It would suit your needs best.
HP-Compaq is the #1 selling brand. Acer is known as a budget brand.
