The mic in my new dell inspiration 6400 is not workin at all,what could be the raeson?

that you haven't turned it on / enabled it?

accessories > entertainment > sound level..

switch it to recording properites.. and enable it
Double click the speaker icon on your task bar. Go to Options, Properties, Recording and check the Mic check box.
