Upgrade from Tiger to Leopard (info below)?

I just bought a MAcbook with Tiger 10.4. When Leopard comes out, will I be able to just buy the CD(s) to upgrade it to 10.5? Or will I have to get a new machine? I don't care paying 200$ for the leopard, I just don't want to spend another thousand bucks or so. It may sound like a dumb question, but I'm new to Apple computers. Thanks for the help.

Hi Barakat,

First off congratulations on your new MacBook. I hope that you're enjoying it.

No, you won't have to buy new hardware when you buy Leopard. You just buy the Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard. It will probably come in a DVD disk. You simply put it into your MacBook and follow along with the instructions. The software will do all of the work.

Apple doesn't do stuff like Microsoft where you have to update your hardware too. There might come a time when I might have to dump my PowerPC PowerMac and go with an Intel-based Macintosh like you have, but not right away. Likewise, you won't have to worry for quite a few years to come. Just sit back and enjoy your MacBook.

If you are new to Macintosh computers. I'd like to make a suggestion. That you look for a Macintosh users group in your area. Go here and see if there's one close by and start attending some meetings. A Macintosh users group is an excellent source for knowledge and help.

Best of luck to you.
