Acer TravelMate 2420 turning off randomly; what is going on?

So for about the past month or so, my Acer TravelMate 2420 has been shutting down while I've been using it. I'll just be using the computer and it'll just shut down. Then I have to start it up again and it loads up and everything.

It's getting very annoying now, because it does it so randomly I often lose information or whatnot. I have a feeling that it's because it gets so damn hot all the time, but I don't know...

ALWAYS keep it on a flat surface and even better a ventilated one. At least put it on a hardback book if you use it in bed or on couch etc.

Check fans to make sure they are running when the computer is thinking hard. Check near the clock to see if the AC adapter sign is active all the time because some laptop connections become loose and will die after battery ran out.

If all has already been done then contact the manufacturer asap if it is less than a year old. If you got it from a retail store you may be able to take it to them to fix it for free.
