Wow, what a broad question. I mean u can get not famous brands with say512 ram and small hard drive for very cheap, like $400, maybe even less. But i mean I knwo my friedn just bought a Gateway with 160gb hard drive and 2 gb ram for $700. But if u want like a Sony or HP or Toshiba, itll cost more. I mean i heard u need like 1 gb of ram now that theres vista, but preferabblly more. But i watch movies, surfe the web, download stuff, use word. And i say 1 gb enough, but if ur doing crazy programming, and stuff like movie editing then u need more. But dont get less than i gb. If you get 512 mb itll be very slow. Also make sure to get dual processor. Make sure its dual. Otherwise itll be much slower. Prices wise, prices keep falling. I mean they have better and better laptops, so the longer u wait the better deals ull find. If u buy it in a store its always a bit more money than online, but the benefits are u get to see what ur buying, and get it that day. I got a dell, im not to happy with it, and if i bought another id probablly get a toshiba or Hp, or Sony, but Sony's are pretty expensive.
