Laptop for a 14 year old going into high school!?
Answers:
I will give you this advice DO NOT GET A LAPTOP WITH WINDOWS VISTA ON IT! Vista may look cool and have alot of new features and stuff in it, but it also has tons of bugs and compatibility issues in it right now. I have been doing research and found that Microsoft will support Windows XP full support till 2009 and extended support till 2014 so I would get a laptop with Windows XP on it. Recently a woman wanted a laptop with Windows XP on it and I saved a TXT document containing all the laptops I was able to find with Windows XP on it. So I copied and pasted the laptop list down below for you from the TXT document. There are 3 laptops so far I found with XP on them. The choice you make is up to you. I would also recommend buying one soon before they get out of stock. There from a site I trust 100% called newegg.com. If you have the money I would go for the HP that I've got in this list.
The Sony VAIO. It's perfect -- ample memory space, pretty fast, and the version I have has a huge screen but still isn't that heavy!
good old cheap Dell is good, or HP
don't buy a Sony or IBM, those are too expensive and not worth it if your gonna take it to HIGH SCHOOL
Best Buy has Toshiba on sale this week (A135-S4727 I think) It is the one that I have and it runs great, fast, pretty light weight, 15.4" wide screen, 2 GB of RAM, 120 GB hard drive. And it is only $599 this week. Check it out, I guarantee you will be happy with it.
apple or toshiba
you can get many option in compaq according to your requirements.
2.0? then you're looking for mine...
ACER TRAVELMATE 8100 series.. :D
maybe they dont have it anymore
You can pick up an Acer TravelMate from http://www.tigerdirect.com for about $400 bones. They're inexpensive and super reliable. They are also extremely tough. It usually comes loaded with Office so you'll have all the tools you need. Built in wireless comes standard as well.
If this doesn't appeal to you I would suggest trying to find a used laptop somewhere else rather than spending a lot of money on a new one. Hope I helped. Have a good'un.
You do not need a laptop at the age of 14. It is completely unnecessary to use one in high school and most schools don't even allow them. Don't waste your money,
toshiba is excellent for everything that you want to do and also check out some big hps.. both are good for movies.. i know im in university and i use them.. :D sony is not that good and dell sometimes works.. also LG is not good.. :D

slim, small, & lightweight
you can order them off of sony for about $950
or get them at a store..best buy, circuit city, Sams club for even less than $950
I bought my c series at Sam's Club for $899 and they are very fast and convenient at school. (im in high school too)

acer 55702 core duo laptop
Hello; I'm writing to you on an Acer Aspire notebook, (technically, notebooks are smaller than laptops), My notebook has an AMD Turion Processor, mk38, running at 2.2Ghz... it came with 1Gb RAM, (but I added 2Gb to it, and sold the 1Gb on Ebay)... all in all my notebook cost me $525, including shipping; I'm including the cost of buying 2Gb RAM, and of course deducting what I sold the 1Gb RAM for... This retails at Walmart for $739, with 1Gb RAM, so I feel I got a pretty good deal!
I'd call this an entry level laptop/notebook, and for that; Acer is a great name! It takes some getting used to though... the smaller keyboard, the friggin touchpad messing me up when I'm typing, etc... but it's a great entry level machine that will be good for your use! If I where you, I'd do a search on ebay for Acer Aspire 5050 (mine is the 5050-3785), but you'd do well with any 5050 series notebook! I just checked, and there's 11 of them on there now!
I hope this helped!;

Hi
A MacBook will last a long time. Get the student/teacher edition of Microsoft Office for less than $150 and get a $25 rebate if you buy before Sept 3. You also get a free printer and possibly a free iPod.
Get it at the Apple Store for Education to get all the discounts and specials. Telephone # is 1-800-MY-APPLE.
