I would recommend getting a MacBook. You can find some on ebay for around $600 (But you got to get them early in the day). The OS alone is 5 times faster then Windows vista. Then when you combine that with the Core Duo or Core 2 Duo that makes it blazing fast. They are awesome. Mac is virus proof, crash proof, extremely fast, very easy, and perfectly designed. Make the Switch you will love a Mac!
Those aren't too demanding of requirements, you should be able to go to your local office depot or best buy and find a compaq or gateway to suffice your needs.
Well. you can find several laptops for under $600 at Walmart.com. however the 1GB of ram i s going to be difficult. most notebooks that have !GB of ram start at about $750. You can try going to dell.com/july and looking at their laptops. they have a Inspiron 1501 notebook thats $499, but it comes with 512mb of ram and a 60GB hard drive. im pretty sure you can upgrage these specs at the website for uinder $150. use E-value code: 6f929-dncchu1
