AMD Turion vs. Intel Centrino Duo Processor - Laptop purchace question?
Answers:
Definitely the Centrino Core 2 Duo is the best CPU. It is fast and battery efficient. The Core 2 Duo is 20% faster than the Core Duo. There is nothing wrong with the Turion, but it is a far inferior CPU for photo editing (and games). Both will work perfectly fine for Word, Net, and Music.
Avoid the Celeron at all costs. That is a handicapped processor.
Getting a discreet video card would help in the photo editing, but it would add a bit of cost.
In the 500-1000 range, Best Buy has a nice Gateway for sale at $750 that has everything you would need (2 GB RAM, Vista Premium, 160 GB Hard drive, and a DVD/CD burner). The price is very nice for the features.
You could buy either actually, you are going to want the most expensive one usually which normally equates to having more CPU Power, Graphics capability, RAM, and Disk space. It depends on what specifically will be doing.
The laptop processor that I usually recommend is the AMD b/c it does run cooler than the Intel but if you wanted a good one the Intel is the better of the two, but I would recommend that you get a Targus Chill Pad and I know that OfficeMax has a HP laptop Bundle which has 2GB ram 160 GB hard drive and it also comes with a printer and a sport carrying backpack for the laptop, the laptop bundle pack costs about 999.99 and the Targus chill pad costs 30.00 at OfficeMax. All new computers have Windows Vista most have the premium version. The brands I don't recommend are the Dell and the Gateway brands.
