The computer cannot find the C: drive.?
Answers:
Your boot sector may have been corrupted. You will need to boot from a bootable floppy and run fdisk to repair the boot sector.
fdisk \MBR
Note that you only want to run this exact command if you only have a single boot partition on your disk. (See link below for more detailed info on fdisk)
If that fixes your problem, then I would immediately make backup copies of all your data including the stuff in "My Documents" as well as any other place you might have saved files. It might be a good idea to take a quick inventory of all the software that you would want to reinstall if you had to rebuild your system. It may be that your hard disk is either gone or on the way out. So be prepared to purchase another even if you get your current one to boot.
If you can't get it to boot, then you are looking at replacing the drive and reloading all your software. Don't just toss your old drive away just yet though. You may be able to set it up as a slave drive and still be able to see some data on it. Check out the second and third links below for some good deals on drives.
Usually means the hard drive in your computer has died. Hope you've got a backup of your important files.
To vegue of a question! Do you see other drives?
if this is a windows system, you can try to boot from the install disc, select "r" (system recovery) and type "chkdsc C: \R". Sometimes that will actually work.
Noel,
We need more information to answer that. If it is saying invalid boot partition there are some things that can be done.
You might not see the drive if it's an NTFS system and you're looking at it from the DOS prompt or a floppy boot disk.
Either your hard drive has died or you have a conflict. Try resiting your IDE cable . Also you can do " chkdisk / fix " . Or perform a disk recovery .
