I tried phone & cable companies for internet connection & not happy. can i just use laptop wireless card?
Answers:
if you are talking about an aircard from a cell phone company, then Sprint is the best choice. stay away from verizon. Cingular/at&t have the fastest cards but only if you live in or near a town that has 3g enabled. Sprint has the best overall broadband overage. It's expensive though. $60 a month if you have a voice plan, $100 if you don't.
verizon's "unlimited" plan is very limited, if you download more than 5 gigs in a month, (i can do that in 2 days) they cancel your account and you are stuck with a card you paid $100 for and now it's good for nothing except a paperweight. That's why I stay stay away from them.
You should look in your local Yellow Pages to see if there are any wireless Internet services in your area. There aren't many of them and the connections are much slower than what you can get from a cable or DSL high speed internet connection.
If your laptop doesn't have a built-in wireless network card, you can get a PC Card one or a USB one.

There are a number of choices when it comes to wireless cards and routers. I would simply check on-line at various retailers - best buy, walmart, staples, etc... you'll find that most people use/recommend both Linksys and D-link both are good and come with excellent how to instructions to install.
Linksys products - http://www.linksys.com/servlet/satellite...
D-link products - http://www.dlink.com/products/category.a...
Please note: Some people not realize that you need a wireless modem or router as well to work wireless.
This Microsoft link gives a good example of a wireless network -

Its looks intimating, but don't sweat it, not as bad as it looks.
There will be instructions/CD from linksys or D-link make it easier.
Plus you'll always have the cable/phone company to call for assistance should you get stuck.
