There's a nice article out, I have the URL listed below, that compares Mac computers to PCs. All in all when everything is taken into consideration, the prices are near the same.
The top rated laptop according to Consumer Reports (they surveyed 100,000 laptop users) is a MacBook Pro. If you are going to an art/design school, you'll need a Mac. I'd recommend the MacBook Pro, Apple has an education store that will give you a discount and free iPod Nano. I taught art for 30 years and only used Apples and Macs. My daughter graduated an art/design school and only used Macs. She has her own business and has two Macs. They are stress free, no viruses, adware or malware.
If you want to shell out more money for one, it is definately worth. But you can get a pretty powerful machine for the same price as a mac that will do as much..
I have heard people swear by Apple's laptops, saying they're better by Dell's by miles. I own a newer Intel iMac (Not the Aluminum version) and I must say, Mac OS is simply FANTASTIC.
Apple Computers are good for graphics designing. I think you really need one.
Yes get a mac they are the best computers. I got a dell last year and it keeps crashing once a month. I have all the virus and spyware programs installed by geek squad.
I'm buying a macbook this year. My friend has had macs her whole life and still has one from about 96 that still works. I would get one!
Her parents are also graphic designers and work on macs everyday.
abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz... now i know my abc's next time won't you sing with me!! woooohooo!!!!
I've traditionally been a PC user but I became a Mac user recently when I started my current job and received a company owned mac book pro. It took awhile to get used coming from a Windows environment but I really like it now.
Pluses: The UI is amazing, I love being able to scroll with two fingers and I also have a program called Parallels installed so I can run Windows at the same time if I want.
Negatives: Expensive and not as many programs as on a PC. For example Rhapsody doesn't have a Desktop version of their Music Player for Mac.
All in all I doubt I would by an Apple desktop computer however if I was going to buy a laptop for myself I would definitely buy an Apple MacBook Pro over a comparable PC one.
