Laptop vs. PC: which is better?
What are some of the pros and cons of both? Would a laptop be better for a student, or not really? Will a PC last longer than a laptop?
Answers:
Regarding durability, it all depends on how you use it(are you violent and impulsive?) and the duration of usage.
if its long and you abuse them, like hitting the keyboards and stuff, naturally they dont last very long.
and
What you intend it to use for?(daily editting of photos, studies, etc or just lounging around with ur notebook)
Pros of a desktop
------------------------
more versatile in terms of changing hardware, can void the warranty or DIY a computer yourself and change hardwares according to your needs
Capable of computing speeds unimaginable on notebooks(yet..)
Cons of desktop
-----------------------
not compact
not travel-friendly
Pros of notebook
------------------------
very light, between 1.3-2kg+ only
much more compact
can use any where you like
Cons of notebook
-------------------------
hardly able to upgrade anything, besides ram and hard disks(which are still rather expensive)
Computing power are much more inferior compared to a decent desktop
Overheating issue may occur(because of their slim design)
short battery life(they usually say on the flyers, etc, that they last for up to 6 hours, but usually they dont even last half of that unless you set the cpu speed to the lowest..and lowest brightness level of the LCD screen)
If its for school, and u require a notebook frequently, then by all means get a notebook. consider a mac if ur gonna do video/photo editting.
And..since you aren't a big gamer, the more you should get a notebook, since they are also capable of watching dvds, burning of data, etc etc..
Have fun choosing!
really the only difference is the mobility. if you do not plan on taking it everywhere you go i would just get a desktop because it would be cheaper
well a labtop is cheaper but a pc is way faster bcuz labtop getz it connection through the air and takes longer even if u hav wireless connection
laptop will be better for you lifestyle.
very expensive laptop are as good regular computers.
If you'll be using it for school, i'd HIGHLY recommend purchasing a high-end laptop. They can be brought wherever, and the technology that is currently developed on the newer laptops is amazing. They are space-friendly, and most come with those features you want. If you decide to go laptop, try and spend the extra money to buy a more expensive one, the features on them are endless.
Depends on your needs. If you need mobility of course it would be laptop. If you remains stationary, better use PC for they're cheaper and PC obviously faster than Laptop. However laptop use smaller amount of electricity.
if u need it to be mobile then u need a laptop .. a laptop almost always feels slower than a desktop though so if im home i almost 100% of the time use the desktop ..
Laptops nowadays can perform just as good as the average computers and some can be even better in performance. I would recommend a laptop because it can do everything a PC would, including high performance gaming, it's portable, and there is not a big price difference if you do some research.
The only thing a laptop holds over a PC is that it is portable.
Everything else a PC will win, I always advise going for a PC unless mobility is essential (if you just need to take files with you get a USB flash drive, they're really cheap!).
You'll always end up paying more for a laptop than a PC
You cannot really upgrade a laptop (trust me, I'm a PC technician, at best it's very, very hard to upgrade a laptop, usually it's impossible)
You can't adjust the height / distance of the screen from the keyboard which is really bad for your posture
Laptop keyboards are really cramped and, again, bad for posture.
Laptops get stolen a lot, PC's hardly ever get taken...
You've probably guessed I'm all for PC's, most people I know with a laptop wished they went for a PC after about 9 months when they want to start upgrading things, and have their laptop sat at home on a desk and it never goes anywhere.
I'll leave it up to someone else to list the pro's of a laptop (i can't think of any other than being portable)
Hope this helps, good luck with whatever you purchase!

Are you referring to a PC as a desktop, because a laptop is a PC. If so, you should get a laptop because it's portable and convenient, unlike a desktop. I would highly recommend a Toshiba Satellite M65-S9092.
