Im looking for a good laptop,seen one but im slightly confused about the memory?

it says
memory: 1GB

Hard Drive Capacity: 120GB

How much memory does this have bcoz ive seen most laptops have this,what does this mean?i know hard drive is in the computer-anyone know??

Answers:
memory = 1 gigabyte
SPEED of the computer (basically)

hard drive = 120 gigabyte
STORAGE capacity of the computer
so the 1Gb will be the ram or memory
Memory is the RAM or Random Access Memory. In simpler terms, a bigger memory means your computer can handle high-end programs, you can play games better, your computer can multi-task better and faster. Plus, loading programs would also be faster.
Hard drive is where you can keep and retrieve stuff permanently, until you decide to erase them. All of your computer programs, music, videos, pictures etc are held there.
Memory refers to where you can have temporary information as you run your various programs. All this is lost after you turn off your computer.
The configuration you've seen is adequate for a laptop running Vista, however I'd suggest buy as much of both hard disk and memory as you can afford.
In simplest terms two different types of memories and two different measurements. RAM is used to run the computer, while the harddrive is used to store and retreive data.
