Carnt get known working monitors to work with computer base unit?
Answers:
i think the computer is dead. Are there any beeps when it is powered on? MB, Processor, memory or video card should be the problem...
Buy a seperate graphics card.
more than likely the on board card is faulty or if your lucky just been disabled.
you can pick up cheap ones for a tenner
Maybe your graphics card is not working, or the on-board graphics is not working, or the computer looks as if it has on-board graphics but actually needs a graphics card.
it seems, therefore, that the video system in the 'spare' PC isn't working.
given your level of expertise, this is a task for a friend with some experience of video cards/video on motherboards, or for your computer repair operation.
on the other hand, if the 'spare' unit is more than a couple of years old, it probably isn't work fixing anyway. [Here in the US, a repair shop would charge a minimum of 100 USD (50 GBP) just to figure out what the problem is.]
oh
if you cant see the initial text bios boot then the graphics card/chip has gone
buy a cheapo card
Just a thought: maybe you have onboard gfx and a gfx card. If so swap the video connection over.
