How do I connect an old LCD laptop monitor to a VGA connector so that I can use it on a regular computer input

I have an old, dead laptop computer with a perfectly working LCD screen. I thought I might hook it up to an extra computer I have, but I have no idea how to connect the LCD output to a VGA input.

Is there a converter cable? Is there a store online to buy one?

Answers:
i have never seen a laptop monitor be able to take an input from an external source. usually it is only the other way around, laptop->tv or external monitor
