When you activate stuff on you desktop how can you refresh it but make it stay in the same place.?

it keeps scrolling around i want to like lock the position how can i do this thanks.

right click on desktop-hit properties-auto arrange

first but everything where you want it to be then do a right click on the mouse and click refresh
