my dad told me he was at work and the power went out. now his lcd monitor doesn't work. when you turn it on you can see the everything for like a second and the back light goes off and you cant see anything. is there anyway it can be fixed?its a very nice monitor.

Maybe its blown a bulb or something: LCDs have 2 fluorescent bulbs on either side of the screen to project light.
You'll have to take it to a repair shop - theres not a whole lot you can do from the house.
Teach you not to use a Surge protector though, won't it?
After the lcd goes out the function keys doesnt work anymore? If you can manage to access the menu of the LCD there's the DEGAUSS function. Try to use it or reset.
