I've used this monitor connected to my HP Pavillion laptop for 3 years & now although the green light is still on the monitor, the monitor goes black for minutes at a time then sometimes it will come back normally, then go black again. I thought it was a cable problem so I cleaned out the cable plugs & changed.out the cables & it didn't solve or improve the problem. I'm beginning to think it's internal w/the monitor but 3 yrs. is a short lived monitor for the use it gets & I never move the monitor. It's in my home office & I'm only user. Do I need a new monitor or is it worth repairing? Suggestions? Tks.

Chances are it's the monitor. Still, if you (or a friend) has another computer, try to plug the monitor into it and see if it has the same symptoms. If so, the monitor is shot.
If you find out the monitor is shot, it won't be worth the money to fix it. It will cost more to fix it than to get a new one.
If the symptoms disappear, then it's your cable or the output on your laptop. Is your laptops power plugged in or is it running off of the battery? If your laptops battery is low it may be shutting down the display to conserve power so you don't lose data. Or maybe it's just a bad port. Hard to say.
