I would like to connect CRT 17" to my laptop and watch the movie. Also I would like to be able to work with my laptop in some apps. Can I do it and if I can how to set them up. I'd tried everything, so please answer with details. Thanks

You should be able to use the VGA cable from the monitor, plug it into the VGA port on the laptop. Right click your desktop, go to Properties. Go to the Settings Tab and there should be two monitors shown. Click the second one, and check the box saying Extend my Windows desktop onto this monitor.
