Just got a new pc monitor can't get my pc to fit correct screen size?
Answers:
Assuming you're using windows (vista or Xp):
1: Go to the monitor manufacturers website and see if there's a new driver for the version of windows you're using. Install if there is.
2: IF you're using an ATI graphics card under Vista, you NEED to use Catalyst 7.6 or above (the latest is 7.7). If you're using NVidia, just get the latest version of their drivers.
3: Once you've done the above, go into the graphics set-up (right click on desk-top, Preferences/Personalize) and check that you've selected the correct monitor, that the resolution is 1440x900@32bit and you're using the correct graphics card.
If you're still having the same problem, then it is likely that your graphics card doesn't support 1440x900 mode and will need replacing. It would help if I had the spec's of your system.

press the auto button
try using controls on the screen its self
It sounds either faulty or the screen simply does not work for your comptuer, it is oftne because the comptuer tower may be older then the screen, different tehcnology, unable to interact with eachother. You could get unplugging or seeing if you can restart the screen, watch what happens and see if it says anything else.
on your desktop in a space,,,, do a right mouse click.
properties
settings
adjust your resoloution
You dont say which version of windows you are on? i will assume that your on windows xp if you are right clic your desktop, select properties, then appearance settings and alter your screen resolution there.
your video card is probably the culprit.
older video cards often don't support the 1.6:1 wide screen monitor format.
try getting a new video driver from the manufacturer.
Click start, control ,display, settings your width setting of 1440 is to high try setting it at 1200 or lowwer. if the height is right keep it around 900 I f you have to adjust several times it wont hurt your computer When you see what you want click apply. If the monitor must also be adjusted follow their instructions before you turn off computer.
Some older computers ( mine is - 5 yrs old) only have 3 resolution settings, 800 x 600 - 1024 x 768 - 1280 x 1024, I suggest you use 'help' in the menu bar on the top of your screen, and this will give you options and advice on how to try to resolve your problem. This is a free online service offered by Microsoft and it is very good - try it. Good luck.
