My PSP is about 1 yr old. A week ago it started turning off by itself after about 5-10 minutes.Any clues why?

The PSP will shut down by itself after 5-10 minutes of playing time. I will let it sit for an hour, turn it back on and it will run for 5-10 more minutes before shuting off again. I checked the battery life and it states I have 7 hrs of battery life. Could it still need a new battery? The PSP has been plugged into the chaeger for about 3 months now - is it possible the battery is ruined?

Answers:
If it was a PC, I'd think that it was overheating.
