15" these flat screens hurt my eyes compareed to the old ones.
I have two computer screens one of them is 17 inch and the other is 37 inch both lcd and run in a side by side configuration so when my mouse pointer leaves the right side of one it magically appears on the left side of the other

17" for messing around, 15" for my laptop, and a 20" / 17" combo on my audio PC. I wouldn't really use anything less than a 17" on a desktop unless you really need the space in a living environment, but from 17 upwards, it's just a case of how much you're willing to spend and what you really need; a 30" cinema display would be great, but for checking your email, slight overkill!
