What's the story on these LG monitors with 3000:1 contrast and 2 ms response time?

...and some of them are cheap, too. They seem to look as good as any at Fry's...even the more-expensive ones. And is that 3000:1 a number inflated by so-called "dynamic" contrast? If so, why don't the LG spec's give a "static" contrast number, too?

Its a dynamic figure.

They have no requirement to give a static figure, so why should they? They are going to tell you the best qualities of their products.
If the image looks good to you, don;t worry about the numbers?
