A new LCD Monitor or a new video card??
I was wondering which would make the most difference to upgrade first... My 17" CRT to a 19" LCD, with 2ms response time and 3000:1 contrast ratio, or my old video card to a newer, much better performing one.
thank you

Upgrade the video card. You don't say what the old one is but the video board is responsible for pumping out the frame rates, the monitor only displays what the card feeds it.
I'd go with the video card hands down. Good frame rates look good on any monitor, but if you get a new monitor your frame rates will still be crap. Plus, LCD monitors are going down in price very fast, so you should be able to afford one not long after you get the video card.
new video card. your games will still run poorly even with an LCD.
video card every time, geforce fx range is pretty good, 5300, make sure you got a 1Gb ram to get best out of pc, they do nwork hard with graphics.
by the way, the CRT monitor is a far better medium for displaying pictures, i know, used to work in a television factory, LCD/TFT are very good and popular because they are flat screen but you cant beat a good old CRT (if you can put up with the space it takes
