Brought PC in for repair, now I can't find where this cord goes..?

I have a Compaq desktop (7 yrs old approx). Model: 5108US

The cord is plugged into the monitor but I can't find where the other end goes. The only description I can provide is: at the other end of the cord, it has a 1 inch cylinder around it.

I believe this is crucial for the monitor to turn on because when I turn the pc on, the monitor stays black and a copper colour light is on by the on/off switch infront.

Any ideas?

Answers:
You need to hook the monitor up to the Video Serial Port at the back of the computer.

Look at the picture here at an analog (VGA) video port:

Or this picture where the video port is on a Video Card. Look at the where the black round port is, the yellow port and then the blue Video Port: http://img.tfd.com/cde/_pcports.jpg...

Digital Video Ports look like this White one in the picture labled DVI : http://www.boundless.com/011-copy-003.gi...
look real close at the back of your pc,, there is only ONE place it will fit, and only one WAY it will fit. just look a lil closer
