I have windows xp and when I boot up, a blue screen appears. How can I remove/repair this ?
Answers:
Well this may be a blue screen of death, but I cant be sure without specific info. This is my first hunch and if it is true then you are in trouble. This screen indicates that there is a problem with the hard drive (either a bad sector, a virus, or a corrupted file) in the windows folder. Basically, you would need to reformat the disc to be able to get past this. Or, you can buy a new hard drive, install windows on that, and set the other drive as a slave so that way the issue with the windows files is passed and you wont lose any data.
does the bluescreen have a message on it ?
To load the last known good configuration in Windows 2000 / XP reboot the computer and as it's booting booting press and hold your "F8 Key" which should bring up the "Windows Advanced Options Menu" as shown below. Use your arrow keys to move to "Last Known Good Configuration" and press your Enter key.
Go to stop-sign.com and download the software to do a full scan. Once it gives you the report of the full scan, locate and DELETE whatever files/folders it says are infected. Don't forget to empty the recycle bin after you delete everything. This should clear it up. From the sounds of it, you have a trojan horse or 2 mucking with your system.
Reboot once everything is cleaned and it should work fine. I just fixed this problem for a couple of people myself. Good luck.
