Help, I can't get my resolution back. I'm stuck with a desktop that's way too big for my moniter?

i just hooked up my tv to my computer and it wouldn't work until i changed my resolution from 1280x1024 to 800x600. but i want to go back so i changed it back to 1280x1024 but all it did was make it so my desktop doesn't fit on my monitor. As I move my mouse around it moves the desktop so i can see what's offscreen.
There's nothing in the advanced properties that allows me to turn on/off my TVout. I tried updating my video drivers but that just made my computer freeze. I tried installing the software on the original CD but that is for windows 2k and that made it so the screen was black. so i removed that from safe mode and used the driver from windows update but it doesn't get my monitor back to normal. It's an ATI Raedon 7200 series video card from at least 6 years ago. Also, the ATI multimedia control panel doesn't have the turn on/off feature of TVout either.

Answers:
try ATI Catalyst drivers
try setting it back to 800*600 then move it over to your monitor, then change it from there.
