How do I degauss my computer monitor?

I changed the eyeshade resolution and now adjectives the banner hoarding on my yahoo email page have gone adjectives fuzzy.
According to the instructions that come with the monitor, it say to degauss the screen whenever you do this. The problem is they do not explain how to do it.

In monitor menu, look through the menus (depending on which characteristics of monitor you have, the option can be different), and find the "Degauss" button, which has a touch horseshoe magnet as its icon.
Choose the menu button on your CRT (monitor). Look for a magnet next to a slash.
There should be buttons on your monitor... Go through the settings and select the the option
On blind instructions, or its probably a combination of a few buttons on the monitor
