My old CRT monitor won't work with my new computer, what can I do?

I have an old 14 inch CRT Compaq monitor and I bought a new computer yesterday. The monitor doesn't work with my new computer but it will work with my old computer so what can I do to get it to work with the new computer?

I also know about getting drivers for it but how do I do that. Also the new system is working with vista and my old computer was XP, so I'm not sure about the drivers working with vista. Thanks

buy a new monitor. cuz the old monitor is not capable to handel the resolution...
Your new PC has resolution by default set too high for your old monitor to handle. The only way to get your old monitor work is to get new monitor somewhere (take your PC to friend's home?), turn it on, go to Display settings in control panel, lower the screen resolution (640x480 or 800x600, no higher), apply and only then connect your old monitor.
I am guessing that your old monitor is pre-plug and play, and the Windows default resolution / refresh rate is too high for it to cope with.

You can borrow a monitor and then set the resolution/refresh rate low enough that your old monitor will work. Start at 640 by 480 at 60 Hz, and then work up.

However, a 14" monitor has to be ancient (in computer years!) I can not believe that it will give a good picture. You can get a new monitor from the store for about $100. Even finding one on E-bay that is a couple of years old is going to look better than what you have.
