Hi there, my laptop desktop is not full screen, "a black bar down each side" can anyone help?
Answers:
The first poster is correct, your screen resolution is off. It's not just a matter of needing to choose tile or stretch on your wallpaper - in those cases your desktop would still extend all the way to the edges of your screen. If you've got bands of black space that your mouse doesn't move into, the screen resoution needs to be changed.
You can right click on an empty area of the desktop to bring up your display properties, then choose a different resolution like 1280x1024, 1440x900 etc. Without knowing the model and brand of of the notebook we can't tell you what the correct resolution will be- you need to check your manual for that.
You need to change the resolution of your monitor to its native resolution. Look up your laptop on Google and find what the proper res should be set to.
the ration is wrong - right click on your desktop and select properties, then choose the setting tab and move the slider down to 800 x 600 and hit apply. if this is too small or large then move the slider either way till you get the size you want.
Right-click an empty space on your Desktop to get to Display Properties.
Click on Settings.
You'll see the Standard and the Wide icons. Drag to the one for your machine and Apply.
Right click on your desktop, choose properties, go to the Desktop tab, and there should be some drop-down menu that says "Center" "Tile" "Stretch". Choose stretch, and those black bars should dissappear. If that drop-down menu isn't in that tab, then look around in there, it should be on one of the tabs. Good Luck!
