What is the difference between 800X600 and 1024X768 resolutions?

Answers:
Both resolutions are meant for 4:3 ratio, not widescreen.
the 800x600 shows lower definition than the latter, but the tradeoff is that it requires less system performance to run with. For most computers 800x600 is the standard gaming resolution.

1024x768 is the most common desktop resolution because the desktop isnt typically used for high end graphics unlike games. You can also see much more on screen and you have a wider area to work with. In physical terms imagine your computer desk was 8x6 feet and then you enlarged it to 10.24x7.68 feet.

Obviously though to fit more space on the same size screen everything will look a little smaller than it would at 800x600.
one is for wide screen the other for full
The higher resolution the better quality of image.
the second choice looks better. that is what i care about, not numbers. i care about my eyes and how clear and sharp the picture is. so, the second is wider and clearer. that is not technical enough for you, probably, just a little common sense. do geeks believe in common sense?
One is bigger (800x600) and uses less pixels and the other is smaller or finer (1024x768) and uses more pixels.

If you are referring to camera quality pics the second one is better for pics.
its the screen area of the windows software ... 800 x 600 is less screen area ... and bigger images ... its more like a zoom function.

1024 x 768 covers wider screen area .. and naturally icons look smaller in it . but you got more space to work on... its more like unzoom as compared to 800 x 600 resolution.
The higher resolution (1024x768) will show more detail. This is good for looking at pictures and videos. The tradeoff is that everything is squeezed in smaller. For text, it might be too small for your viewing comfort. I used to have two monitors on one computer. I had the small monitor at low resolution for text and the large monitor at high resolutioin for pictures and videos.
