How do you hook up your desktop monior to you laptop?

I am trying to hook up my laptop to my monitor ...how can I do that?

I got a free laptop from this site, I highly recommend it!
should be a 15pin blue vga video port on the laptop which is what your monitor will have on its cable unless its using dvi in which you will need a little dvi to vga adaptor that you can get at most local pc stores.
