Printing problems?

This has happened to two computers I use:

When I send something to print, nothing happens. If I click on the printer icon, there is nothing in the "status" column. It's not til I restart the computer that the documents print.

With my old computer, this was the first problem. Then, it got to be where even restarting or turning the printer on and off didn't work. When I would right-click on the job and to try to restart or cancel it, the status would change to the command but nothing would ever happen. (I'd have to use the printer that came with the newer computer)

Is this some sort of virus or did the printer settings somehow get changed? I really don't want the newer computer/printer to start having these same problems too.

This happened when I had a Lexmark. Try unplugging the printer for like 15 seconds and then printing. If that doesn't work, restart your computer. If that STILL doesn't work, try uninstalling and reinstalling your printer. Hope this helps.
This happened to me, and the clicking on/off worked. But, if you click the printer icon and open the troubleshooting tasks, it will show you many ways that you can fix the problem. Try all of these out, one is bound to work, but if they dont, consult an expert, like Geek Squad oh and like FUTURTEACHER... said, uninstalling and reinstalling will work.
maybe you need to clean the inside of the printer and get a new cartridge?
