i think that whenever your not using a piece of equipment you should turn it off as even in idle mode it will still use up electricity and solely from a global warming point of view I think we should all do our bit. f you're not bothered then no you don't have to turn the printer off.
You do not NEED to, but it will save you power, just like turning off your computer saves power.
Depending on your printer, it may already "go to sleep" when not in use, and not consume much power.
It really depends on whether or not you want to trade turning it off/on or saving the power.
No, almost every printer has a power saving mode.. In most cases it is better to leave the printer on as it will occasionally cycle to keep a small amount on ink flowing and prevent the cartridges from drying out.
