Yeah definitely. there is a ton of reviews from customers on amazon and it has a 4 star rating.
It is as safe as anything else. You take a larger risk commuting to work or driving in a car each day, so I'd say that buying the printer would be safe.
it is a decent printer for normal documents.
and i haven't heard of any safety issues.

Lasers shoot and kill people. They cut through metal walls, you think that piddly little plastic case on the printer can keep that much power from destroying your city?
Honestly, yes it is totally safe. The laser in the machine is enclosed and not visible.
None of the studies on printers being harmful are confirmed yet.
With that said all you can do is go by what the results are from the Australian Tech school for now until there is legitimate proof of what models are harmful.
Until then just keep your printer in an about of the way location and a well ventilated one!

Do you have a CD/DVD burner? it uses a laser.
Low powered lasers are not harmful.
