Epson C64 - 'parts have reached the end of their service life'. How can I switch off this message?
If I took my printer in for service, the engineer would reset a switch or something in the printer - any ideas?

You'll need to open the printer casing and remove the cotton waste ink pads at the bottom. It's quite likely that they're saturated with waste ink.
After removing them, you can clean them using plain warm water but let them dry thoroughly before reinserting them.
After you've got them resinstalled, you'll need to reset the waste ink counter.
You can use the SSC Epson printer utility to do that. Download the software and follow the instructions to reset the waste ink counter.
Their is a sponge type resevoir of "waste ink" needs cleaned / replaced and a software setting in a utility to reset the count.
There are plenty links out on google for it, complete with details to reach the inkpads to clean them.
Taking it to an "authorised Epson man" will cost more than the printer is worth.
Sorry! No experience.
