How many 8x10's can be made with HP's 97 inkjet cartridge?

Oh man.. that all depends. Are you going to use JUST Black? JUST COLOR? or BOTH? If both, are you printing out mostly text with some pictures or both text and pictures? What about the kind of paper? Photo or regular?

I wouldn't accept anyones answer as a good answer untill you can answer the following. You have not asked a good question without these VERY important details.

Paper sucks ink differently, depending on what you are using. Inkjets are more costly to run then laser printers.
HP states that the #97 cartridge will produce 450 pages (@ 5% coverage) or 160 4"x6" photos. They also stipulate that different papers aborb ink differently so read their testing methodology for more info.

If what they say holds true, convert the 4"x6" output (24x160) to square inches (3840) and divide by 80 (the number of square inches in an 8"x10" photo).

So, you should end up with approximately 48 8"x10" photos.
