Color images printing as solid black box?

I have an HP Officejet 6210 All in One printer at work. Recently some of the color images have been printing as solid black boxes (not all of them). These are images I use all of the time in Microsoft Word/Publisher/Powerpoint, so there is nothing wrong with the images themselves.

I called technical support, and they told me my warranty expired and I have to pay them $35 to get them to tell me anything. Searched the online troubleshooting... nothing. I haven't changed any of my settings or anything - any ideas on how to fix the problem?

It sounds like you have a driver issue.

I would unhook the printer and uninstall the software.

Restart the computer, install the drivers and hook the printer back up.

Sometimes when you download or upgrade newer versions or patches of windows it causes driver errors or conflicts. Updating and reconfiguring your print driver should remedy this.
This is probably because your color ink ran out so that's why it's printing black. Check on your ink and see if that's the problem.
Sarah,

Would be helpful to know what application is doing the black box printing, and we're sure you're not infiltrated by the NSA or CIA, right? he..he..at any rate, why not join us on our 'Ask Your Computer Guy' Call In Support Program. You can find out more here.
