Help with printer which has knocked out my microsoft works word processor??

i have just installed a hp deskjetF2100 all in one and it has stopped my microsoft word processor working but the others work like spreadsheet etc.
also the calender doesnt print the way i want it to even tho im setting it to print landscape its coming up the other way
if i uninstall the printer which i have done then my word processor is working again .
i have checked that my printer is compatable with my windows xp that i use.
im not great with computers so any advice would be really useful

From Word, click on File, down to Print, then when the name of the printer comes up, which I am assuming will be your old printer, click on downward arrow to side to reveal hopefully list which includes the new printer, and click on that. Alternatively, and even better, though you probably might have done this as it works with Spreadsheets etc. Start, Control Panel, Printers &Faxes. The window should show your current printer and whatever ones you've had connected in the past. Right click on the new HP one, to bring up submenu and click on Set as Default. Hope this helps.
You say Word isn't working but you don't give any symptoms. Tell us if it's:

1. Not opening.
2. Opening, but you can't work on files
3. Not printing files.
4. Something else.

Details would be great.
