Ink cartridges?

This is for my friend, it shows on here P.C. that she still has lots of ink, but when she printed something it came up blotchy, someone said you can put your ink cartdge in water & that would help activate it again, is this true, or are there other ways to get more use of the ink that,s in there, thanks.

Answers:
Well that actually depends upon the ink cartridge. If she has a brother epson or canon, the answer is not. If she has an hp the answer is maybe. If she has a lexmark or dell yes, however lexmarks and dells are very poorly designed and don't discharge properly so there is a really good chance the cartridge will be ruined by placing the print head in water.
water will be the worst scenario for that, i suggest to remove the cartridge from the printer and wipe its printing head with a smooth cloth that is slightly wet, one more thing why not to try the printer software it should have something for print cartridge cleaning or alingnment, this may help.
All inkjets have a "self-cleaning" mode that you can activate. However, you'll have to get your friend to find and read the manual to figure out how to activate it.
