my machine is making a full length black line everytime I copy something. Have cleaned it the way the manual states but still getting it. Any suggestions on how to solve this problem? It is about 3 years old and is it time to get something new or try to resolve this. The company is no help at all and says to send it in for repair, more costly to send it away then it is worth.

you have a bad fusing (fixing) roller. Usually you have a upper and a lower fusing roller used to fuse the ink to the page. Over time the upper roller accumulates toner and becomes a ring around the roller. Therefore, that ring becomes a line on the page.
Have you looked at the film, it could be an issue with the rollers or film, in which case just replace those.
If the film is not loaded properly or running low it may just be an issue of changing it.
