Not all ink is the same, printers have a different number ot nozzles on the print head, more nozzles require a higher purity ink.
There are also a few different types of delivery systems. Thermal inkjets need an ink with a low flash point. This is because the ink is vaporized as a means of delivering it to the page. Piezoelectric inkjets require a relatively non conductive ink with a high flash point as an electric charge is used to push ink out of the nozzles.
There are also different tints dependent upon how the printer mixes ink.
Not all ink is water based, some are ethanol based. Some inks are pigments some inks are dyes.
Not all ink is the same and you are best to stick with an ink that is designed for your printer.
no reason at all i have refilled my cartridges for years and used lot,s of different makes of ink,s..
it,s a messy job when first attempting it so get a couple of pairs of gloves like dentist/doctors use and make sure you have kitchen paper to wipe up any spills,
make sure when finished refilling cartridge you put a stopper/bung where you have made hole for ink to go in,this will ensure the cartridge will not lose any pressure when printing...
I believe you are asking can you put different colour inks in your printer other than the prime colours, well, you can but you would not pleased with the end result,. if you are say a different cartridge to the printer make then Jet Tec do an excellent range of printer cartridges
